I will give an overview of modelling results on the evolution of disc galaxies covering a range of scales, from nuclear star clusters in the inner parsecs of galaxies, to the mixing of stellar populations in the disc (so called radial migration) to triaxial dark matter halo and its orientation relative to the disc. The advent of Gaia will allow us to test many of the predictions in the Milky Way.
