Title: Nuclear reactions, Bulk viscosity, Neutron Star mergers, and Gravitational Waves
Abstract: Gravitational waves from neutron star mergers have already been detected and used to constrain bulk matter properties at high densities. However, next generation detectors will be sensitive to the full merger and post-merger event, not just the inspiral. In this regime the matter is extremely hot and a wider range of nuclear physics becomes relevant. In this talk I will discuss the potential use of gravitational waves in constraining properties of nuclear reactions, and the requirements on modelling and nuclear simulations for next generation detectors.
