Title: Primordial magnetic field generation in Axion Monodromy Inflation
Abstract: Magnetic fields have known to exist on scales ranging from those of galaxies to galactic clusters and recently, in cosmological voids thus prompting the possibility that they could have been generated during inflation. The question of their origin is still open partly due to the complicated non linear MHD regime in the Early Universe. The magnetic field generated when EM field is linearly coupled to the inflaton in axion monodromy inflation is computed, along with the coherent scale. The expectation that the oscillatory contribution to a slow rolling scalar field would enhance the generated magnetic field was not observed in numerical calculations. To further explore the possibility of generating magnetic fields via parametric resonance, a coupling with a coherently oscillating sub dominant scalar field is also considered.
