Massive graviton geons: self-gravitating massive gravitational waves —
Abstract:
We study vacuum solutions such that massive gravitons are confined in a local spacetime region by their gravitational energy in the context of the bigravity theory, which we call massive graviton geons. We find a non-spherically symmetric solution with a quadrupole configuration of the massive graviton as well as a spherically symmetric solution with a monopole configuration. The stability analysis suggests that the quadrupole configuration is the ground state of the massive graviton geons. The massive graviton geons may decay in time due to gravitational wave emissions but this timescale can be quite long and then the geons can be long-lived. We also discuss their applications to a dark matter scenario in which dark matter is explained by the massive graviton. —
