Stargazing isn’t just for the countryside – Nature’s wonders can be seen through telescopes right here in Portsmouth!
As part of the BBC’s Stargazing Live programme, astrophysicists from the University of Portsmouth’s Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation will be hanging out at Gunwharf Quays. Come use our telescopes to get a closer look at craters on the Moon or the moons and stripes of planet Jupiter. Chat with us about what interests you, and we’ll try to answer all of your questions about stargazing, the Universe, or being a scientist.
Look for us at Gunwharf Quays near the canal near Bar 38.
Time: 17:30-19:00 on clear nights from Jan 10-14. This event will be canceled on nights with poor weather conditions. Please check this page for updates or follow @ChazShapiro on Twitter ( look for #ICGgaze )
