We’re delighted to announce, that beginning 4th July 2016, ICG will be hosting our first ever Isaac Physics Widening Participation Fellow. Dr. Nic Bonne, currently an (Australian Government funded Endeavour Fellow) was awarded this fellowship to be based at ICG, and will spend 50% of his time working on this project.
Isaac Physics, is a Department for Education project, led by the University of Cambridge, which creates resources and runs events designed to offer support and activities in physics problem solving to teachers and to students transitioning from GCSE (Y11), through to Sixth Form (Y12 & 13), to university. Isaac Physics combines an online study tool with face-to-face events at partner schools and institutions across the UK, now including the University of Portsmouth.
Our new Isaac Physics Widening Participation Fellows will work closely with our Ogden Science Officer (Dr. Jennifer Gupta) to work towards encourage Widening Participation in Physics degrees at Portsmouth University and elsewhere.
The first events at the University of Portsmouth will happen on 11th July 2016:
- Teacher CPD Workshop: Problem Solving with Vectors, Exponentials and Calculus, 9.00am
- Student Workshop: Problem Solving with Exponentials, 4.30pm.
