Claudia Maraston, one of the ICG’s new professors, gave her inaugural lecture yesterday to members of the public. Her talk “Shining Galaxies in a Dark Universe” explained her work on understanding the light from the hundreds of billions of stars that make up galaxies. The fully booked lecture explained how stars generate their energy, and how galaxies evolved over the 14 billion years from the Big Bang to the present day.
Further photographs from the lecture are available on the ICG’s Facebook page.
